BBC Click – Metropolitan Police facial recognition

Big Brother Watch Team / May 16, 2019

BBC Click covered UK police use of live facial recognition. They came to a deployment by the Metropolitan Police in Romford where one man was stopped just for objecting to facial recognition, covering his face, and when he got annoyed at being stopped and surrounded by police and plain-clothes officers, he was given a £90 fine.

Our Director Silkie Carlo also speaks to the BBC about the police’s lawless and authoritarian use of the technology.
