What information do we collect and how do we use your data?

We collect, store and use your email address if you freely provide it to us for the specific purpose of receiving our email newsletter. Your email address will only be used for that purpose. This information is shared with our newsletter service provider MailChimp for the specific purpose of sending you our email newsletter. You can view their privacy policy here.

We do not share this information with any other third party or organisation.

We do not directly collect, store or use any metadata; also known as communications data or log information. Data which may be retained by our server provider may include IP address, information regarding your length of visit on the website, number of pages viewed and if you have come to the website via a link from another website (referrer) or if you link to another website from our site. This information is held by our server provider and is not examined, other than when we occasionally review visitor numbers only.

We do not use cookies on our website.

You can access all pages on our website without telling us who you are.

We do use the video playing services Vimeo and YouTube. Vimeo and YouTube use cookies as part of their service. They have their own privacy policy regarding cookies. We also use some social media buttons.

We use GoCardless, Paypal and CrowdJustice accounts to administer on-line donations. Paypal allows you to close your customer account once you no longer require it. Your account information may stay active with PayPal for legal and audit purposes, in accordance with PayPal’s privacy policy available here. CrowdJustice gives you the choice over your data privacy. Financial and Supporter Information

We have Paypal and CrowdJustice accounts to administer on-line donations. Paypal allows you to close your customer account once you no longer require it. Our financial accounts are held with Metro Bank. Any donations made to Big Brother Watch in the form of a cheque or bank transfer will be processed by Metro Bank in accordance with its privacy policy available here and under UK law. We retain information about all donations in accordance with financial auditing requirements.

When using the site, you may gain access to other websites through use of links or hypertext. Within this website we include links to third party articles and advice that may be of use to our users. Big Brother Watch is not responsible for the advice and/or information given by the third party organisations or for the content or operation of such third party websites.
