Police and the Crown Prosecution Service launched a new policy in April 2019 allowing incredibly intrusive and excessive investigations of victims’ mobile phones and personal information, akin to ‘digital strip searches’.
This intrusion into victims’ personal lives is often based around myths and stereotypes that many rape allegations are false, when in reality according to the Crown Prosecution Service’s most recent statistics, just 0.62% of all rape cases were deemed to be false allegations.
