Our panel “Are liberals leaving free speech behind?” aims to bring together leading thinkers to address this most timely issue in a convivial way respecting all perspectives, to reflect on Britain’s challenges with free speech and aim to explore questions such as:

has Britain achieved the right balance on free speech and protest rights, particularly given current tensions?

is Britain protecting free speech online, or have content rules and ‘counter misinformation’ powers become tools for censorship?

the ACLU has been widely criticised for taking a back seat on free speech in recent years – are human rights institutions doing enough?

how can we fight racism whilst protecting the right to free expression?
