10 years ago, the Guardian first published the groundbreaking disclosures that the UK’s foremost spying agency GCHQ was secretly gaining access to and exploiting the world’s online communications.
This was only possible because Edward Snowden, an NSA contractor, bravely walked out of his place of work with a thumb drive of documents exposing the full scale of governments’ public surveillance – the extent of which was unimaginable.
