Major UK supermarkets are using live facial recognition as a way to tackle shoplifting. Jasleen Chaggar, senior legal and policy officer at Big Brother Watch said: “Shoplifting is a scourge, but subjecting innocent shoppers to biometric face scans just to buy a pint of milk is a disproportionate response.”
