Independent – Protest restrictions in Policing Bill breach human rights

Big Brother Watch Team / June 22, 2021

The curbs on protests in the Government’s controversial Policing Bill breach human rights laws MPs and peers have warned.

The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts bill, contains proposals to restrict “noisy” protests, which Parliament’s Joint Committee on Human Rights described as “not necessary in a democratic society”.

Campaign group Big Brother Watch called the report “damning” and called for MPs to remove the “draconian” protest powers from the bill.
