The Guardian – Big Brother Watch & press freedoms groups call for urgent changes to new surveillance Bill

Big Brother Watch, Reporters Without Borders, Index on Censorship, English PEN, Open Rights Group, NUS, Committee on the Administration of Justice and Cage have written an open letter to parliamentarians warning that the Crime (Overseas Production Orders) Bill threatens privacy and free expression rights.

The Bill drastically reduces the thresholds for authorities to intercept electronic messages, and undermines protections for journalists.
